India homemade Destroyer INS Chennai

Indian Navy’s plan to become a force to be reckoned with by having about 200 warships, 600 aircraft and helicopter by 2027, Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar on Monday commissioned the indigenously-designed and built Kolkata-class third guided missile destroyer ‘INS Chennai’ in Mumbai. Reportedly one of the largest-ever warship to be made in India, the Chennai is the last of the ships in the project 15A of the Navy. The INS Chennai will be placed under the operational and administrative control of the Western Naval Command. 

INS Chennai, overall length is 164 meters; displacement over 7,500 tons; top speed over 30 knots (approx. 55 KM/hour), powered by four reversible gas turbines engines & it can carry 350 to 400 people.
