Polio Eradication – 2014
In March 2014, The World Health Organization certified the South-East Asian region – which includes India, a polio-free region. WHO presented the official certification to India for its ‘Polio Free’ status. A country with such a large population defeating polio is no mean feat, and that is a commendable victory.
